TIME exhibition at Maidstone Museum 14 May to 25 June 2016Read More
Only 1 week to go until Maidstone's first ever Art Market hits the town and the excitement and anticipation is building. The list of exhibitors and live entertainment schedule has been published on the website, and items for the charity auction keep rolling in. If you don't know what I'm talking about visit the website now... and do please come and see us on the 19th September. Locations details and whatnot can be found on the Art Market website.
I'll be there, embarking on my first foray into selling with some of my prints from the Shop section of my website. I'll also have a knitted installation along the theme of 'odd socks in the washing machine of life' and a bargain basket of weird knitted sock-limbs.
There are some great artists lined up and with over 80 stands there's bound to be something for everyone. Maidstone won't know what's hit it!
I was thrilled to be asked to contribute to this exhibition of work by Shirley-Ann Galbraith. As on of the guest artists I'll be showing a new piece of work called 'Mothers Operating System (MOS)' - it's still work in progress so images will be posted soon. All I can say is that it's textile based and one of the smallest and most delicate pieces of work I've ever made!
The subject of the Unthought Known is fascinating. It's a psychoanalytical term coined by Christopher Bollas in his book The Shadow of the Object. It refers to, amongst other things, how our pre-verbal early experiences unconsciously influence our behaviour as an adult, citing the mother as a transformational object and how we pursue such similar objects in later life.
The exhibition will run from 1 - 29 August at Below 65 Gallery in Maidstone.
The private view will be held on Thursday 6 August between 6.30 - 9pm. Please come along.
