insideKENT, Ferens Open and Etsy

It's been a busy start to the year, so I thought it might be nice to share what's been happening so far...

I was enormously chuffed to be invited to feature as artist of the month in the January issue of insideKENT and you can read the interview here.

Sleep Pattern - December 2016 at Ferens Gallery

Sleep Pattern - December 2016 at Ferens Gallery

I was born and raised in Goxhill, a Lincolnshire village along the south bank of the River Humber and one of my childhood memories is catching the ferry from New Holland to Hull for shopping trips. The trip across the river on the ferry made visiting Hull seem like a real adventure. So, I was thrilled when Sleep Pattern - December 2016 was selected for the Open Exhibition at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull. The Ferens gallery re-opened on 13 January 2017 after refurbishment and the galleries and the collection are fantastic. Some 330 works were selected for the Open Exhibition and it was wonderful to see the galleries alive with visitors. I believe 10,000 visitors came in the first weekend of opening and this trend has continued. Hull is the UK city of culture this year and if you fancy a trip there is lots to see, including 5 of Francis Bacon's Screaming Popes!

I've finally managed to dip my toe into online selling and opened an Etsy shop in case anyone wishes to buy my jigsaw collages.

And finally... I'm working on a new 'Old Masters and Butterflies' series of jigsaw collages which will be previewed (amongst other new work) at an exhibition in the Pie Factory at Margate (with Shirley-Ann Galbraith) in April/May.  More on that coming soon...
