My inspiration for this body of work was the semiotic language of safety communications used on the waterways. The work references the motifs and language of the nautical flags used to communicate vital information to water traffic.

SILTings is a creative programme featuring new artworks and performances created in response to the rich heritage, forgotten stories and hidden histories of Gravesham riverfront. Filaments Art Collective were commissioned by LV21 to produce work for this programme for installation on their historic light vessel moored at Gravesend. The work is available to view during the weekend of 4, 5, 6 June as part of Estuary Festival 2021 Associate programme.
